Master Renzo's Biography
Born March 11, 1967, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Renzo Gracie grew up immersed in Jiu-Jitsu as the grandson of founder Carlos Gracie and son of 9th-degree red belt Robson Gracie. He has competed in top-level organizations worldwide, including the UFC and Pride Fighting Championships, showcasing the effectiveness of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
One of his most significant achievements was pioneering the growth of BJJ in the United States during the 1990s when he established the Renzo Gracie Academy in New York City. His academy became a cornerstone for the expansion of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, now with over 70 affiliates globally.
Beyond his fighting career, Renzo has earned recognition as one of the sport’s most charismatic and influential mentors. His teachings have shaped world-class competitors, from UFC champions to submission grappling icons, further cementing his legacy in the martial arts world.
